Galactic Drift
Privacy Policy
Galactic Drift does not collect any personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, and no cross-app tracking. To understand how the game is played and to fix crashes, the app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, and you can turn these off at any time. This policy describes, plainly, everything that happens with data when you play.
Information We Collect
The app collects the following, through Google Firebase (see Third-Party Services). None of it is linked to your identity, and none of it is used to track you across other apps or websites.
- An app instance identifier. This is a random ID generated for this install of the app, along with Apple's identifier for vendor (IDFV). They let us count devices and sessions. The advertising identifier (IDFA) is never accessed.
- Gameplay events. For example: tutorial started or finished, level started, cleared or abandoned, number of attempts and time taken, stars earned, Navigator hints used, Daily Challenge results, and cosmetics equipped.
- Store interactions. When the unlock screen is shown or closed, which in-app purchase was tapped, and whether it succeeded, was cancelled or failed. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details or Apple ID.
- Crash reports and diagnostics. If the app crashes, we receive the technical details needed to fix it: the stack trace, device model, iOS version, and app version.
- Basic device and app information. Firebase also records the device model, iOS version, app version, language, and approximate country (derived from the IP address, which is not stored).
The app never collects your name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos, or any free text you type.
Turning It Off
Open the app's Settings screen and switch off Share anonymous usage data. Usage statistics stop immediately, and crash reporting stops from the next launch. You can switch it back on at any time.
How Long We Keep It
Usage statistics are kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
Game Center (Optional)
If you are signed into Apple's Game Center on your device, Galactic Drift submits your scores to the game's leaderboards so you can compete with other players. Apple, not ByteLathe LLC, operates the Game Center service. When you submit a score:
- Apple receives your Game Center nickname and the score for that level.
- The app never receives or stores your Apple ID, email, real name, or any other personal information.
- You can disable Game Center at any time in Settings → Game Center on your device.
Apple's handling of Game Center data is governed by the Apple Game Center Privacy Notice.
Local Storage on Your Device
The app also saves the following information on your device only. It stays on your device, and none of it is personal:
- Level progress and completed levels
- Best scores and a record of past launches (angle, speed, score, timestamp, sampled trajectory points for ghost replays)
- Daily streak count and last played date
- Audio and haptic preferences, and your usage-data choice
- Tutorial completion flag
- Unlock status, Navigator hint balance, and selected cosmetics
Deleting the app removes all of this data.
Third-Party Services
Galactic Drift uses two services from Google Firebase:
- Google Analytics for Firebase, for the anonymous usage statistics described above.
- Firebase Crashlytics, for crash reports.
Google processes this data on our behalf, on servers that may be located outside your country, under the Firebase privacy and security terms and the Google Privacy Policy. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization, so this data is not used for advertising or combined with your Google account.
In-app purchases are processed by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Tracking and Advertising
The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA), and shows no advertisements. We do not sell or share data with data brokers or advertisers.
Children's Privacy
Galactic Drift is suitable for all ages. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children; the anonymous usage statistics and crash reports described above are the same for every player and can be turned off in Settings.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change along with it. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's App Store release notes.
Contact Form
The contact form on our Support page is the only way we communicate with you from this site; it is separate from the app. When you send a message through it, we collect the name, email address, and message body you provide and transmit them to our inbox using an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Lambda function and Amazon SES, both operated by us. We use this information only to reply to your message. We do not store form submissions in any separate database, and we do not share them with anyone.
If you would rather not use the form, you simply don't need to contact us — no data is collected otherwise.
Spam protection — Google reCAPTCHA
Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which helps us distinguish human visitors from automated bots. When you load or submit the contact form, Google receives your IP address and interaction signals for that page, subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service. We use reCAPTCHA solely for spam prevention; we do not receive or store the data Google collects through it.
